Dave Davies is a 1986 graduate of Weiser High School. He cites as influences Mike Thomas, Ken Kellum, Lyle Kleppin, Mike Halverson, Terral Jensen, and Jeff Hironaka. Dave was active in track, basketball, football, and cross country during his time at WHS. He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1991 and began his teaching career at Middleton High School, where he taught math and coached cross country, basketball, and track. He married Holly (Jelsing) in October 1991, who was then in her third year of teaching kindergarten at Pioneer School. Dave and Holly have four children: Luke (WHS Class of 2011), Matthew (WHS Class of 2014), Mikel (WHS Class of 2018), and Kate (WHS Class of 2023). In 1993, Dave returned to Weiser High School as a math teacher and also coached basketball, track, and cross country. He holds a master’s degree from Northwest Nazarene University. In addition to teaching, he served as Vice Principal for three years and Principal for 17 years at WHS. Dave concluded his 32-year career in the Weiser School District, most recently as Principal of Pioneer Elementary, in June 2025. In retirement, Dave and Holly have continued to work part-time in the Weiser School District. Dave also serves on the board of the Weiser Education Foundation and is a member of the Weiser Architectural Preservation Committee.
